Welcome to the Outdoor Round-Up! A collection of our favorite outdoor content we stumbled upon this month.
UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup
I know nothing about Ice Climbing, and after watching the clip below, I deeply regret that. Look at the skill. Admire the Aggression. Be awestruck by the speed. Climbing is hard enough without the rock being icy. To the competitors who competed in the 2019 World Ice Climbing World Cup, I saulte you.
America’s Newest National Park
The Indiana Dunes National Park is the newest park I now have to add to my Bucket List dream of seeing every National Park. The park features mature black oak trees extending up to the sandy coastline of Lake Michigan. Now we all have a legitimate reason to visit Indiana. Learn More about the park by reading Outside’s announcement article.
The Omelette Guy
I have never thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail but I’d be lying if I said I never daydream about it. The trail didn’t become famous for its big scenic views which are far and in between. It’s best known for being a communal calling for hikers. People just treat each other better in the outdoors. Check out the Trail Angel known as “The Omelette Guy” who cooks a free breakfast for hikers along the AT.
The Descendants
Harvesting your own food is immensely satisfying. There is a primal feeling that you cannot get from the Deli Counter at Albertson’s. Take a look at this short film for Bowhunt Down Under which features Adam Greentree’s hunting trip to New Zealand.
What did we miss? Don’t be greedy. Share your favorite images, videos, and articles with us on Twitter or Facebook!
If you haven’t heard yet, we opened an Etsy shop where you can purchase prints and canvases from the images we use on this website! We would sure appreciate it if you bought something so we can keep bringing you these excellent round-ups and so I can finally say yes when the people at Chipotle ask me if I want guacamole, even if it costs extra.
Chad can be summed up by his idea of a perfect day: Waking up early to watch the sunrise over the mountains, warm cup of coffee in hand then grabbing his camera and fly rod, hitting the trail to explore some uncharted territory followed by cold beers and campfire steaks. Chad is often joined on his adventures by his wife, Tori, and their dog, Kona.
