Day 1
Hoboken, New Jersey: The Unexpected Charm
Our first adventure to New York kicked off in Hoboken, New Jersey, a decision that turned out to be pleasantly surprising. While New Jersey often gets a bad rap, Hoboken offers a charming small-town feel with the bonus of stunning views of the New York skyline across the Hudson River. It’s a perspective you can’t get from the heart of Manhattan, and it’s a view worth experiencing.
The New York Public Library
Our journey into Manhattan started with a visit to the New York Public Library. This isn’t your average library – it’s more like a majestic castle. We marveled at the grand architecture and enjoyed the unique exhibits, including the actual stuffed animals that inspired Winnie the Pooh and original documents from Lewis and Clark’s journals. The library is a perfect blend of history and beauty.
Summit One Vanderbilt
Next on our list was Summit One in the Vanderbilt building, a must-see for incredible city views. The adventure began with a mind-bending elevator ride filled with lights and sounds, taking us to an array of captivating art installations. My personal favorite was the two-story mirrored room that created an illusion of endless space. The views from the top were simply breathtaking, especially the sight of the Empire State Building standing tall and proud.

We continued our exploration with stops at Rockefeller Plaza, Radio City Music Hall, and several historic churches tucked away among modern skyscrapers. Day 2
Culinary Delights at Chelsea Market
The following day, we embarked on a food tour at Chelsea Market, famously known as the birthplace of the Oreo. The market offered a delightful array of treats, from scones and jams to hotdogs, Asian fusion tacos, and classic New York pizza.
The Statue of Liberty
A trip to New York wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Statue of Liberty. We took the ferry to Ellis Island, delving into the rich history of American immigration. The statue itself was awe-inspiring, offering fantastic photo opportunities and breathtaking views of the city.
Yankee Stadium
Our day concluded with a Yankees game. We found affordable tickets in the upper sections, which still provided a great view. Enjoying a hotdog and beer in the chilly stadium atmosphere was the perfect way to experience local culture.
Day 3
Central Park and the Museum of Natural History
Back in the city, we explored Central Park, a sprawling green haven filled with lakes, fountains, and street musicians. Our adventure continued at the Museum of Natural History, home to an impressive collection of dinosaur fossils, including Raptors, Stegosauruses, and Triceratops. It’s a must-visit for any history buff.
Day 4
A Day Trip to Sleepy Hollow
For a change of pace, we took a day trip to Sleepy Hollow, especially magical in October. The town bursts into life with Halloween festivities, including parades, light-up pumpkin displays, and the Jack-o’-Lantern Blaze featuring thousands of intricately carved pumpkins. A life-size T-Rex made of pumpkins was a standout attraction.
